Hallo Guys,

i have an question. It is possible to programm the arduino over an infrared module/sketch?

i don't find any informations about this topic but infrared was for a long term the default of communication.

best wishes Thomas

I'm assuming you want to download your sketch from your computer to the Arduino using a serial prototol over infrared.

The AVR chip on the Arduino board can be programmed over SPI, or over a serial protocol. The Arduino boards contain adapters that go from USB to serial.

If you can make the AVR chip receive serial data from some other module than the USB->serial chip, and you can write to that module as a serial port on the host computer, then you can program the AVR chip that way. This is not generally supported on the Arduino itself; you'll probably need to build your own variant for that (on a breadboard or similar).
