Can anybody send me a link directly onto the arduino website for the above extension. Is this the correct software to save circuit board code in the ino.file format. At the moment all my files are saving as PNG format, I cannot find INO File Extension on this website it keeps going to home page.

The "INO" extension is to save the sketch / code you write for the ARDUINO and not a PICTURE format.

You might have the two confused.
