# Insert CODE

I have been requested to push the "# insert code button" when seeking programming assistance. I have read the given info on the "HELP" page and unfortunately I don't understand when of why it must be used. Can someone please in very simple terms explain it's function.I have been requested to push the # insert code button when requesting assistance

When you compose a message, you get a bunch of buttons above the text entry area. One of them has a "#" character, and if you mouse-over it, it will say "Insert code." If you click on it, it will insert "tags" in your message body that look like this: [cde][/cde] (except "code" will be spelled correctly!)
If you paste your code between the tags "][", it will be displayed on the forums in a fixed width font, preserving multiple spaces, and perhaps other things that will cause it to look like readable code instead of being reformatted like text...

In addition to all that above, the box that contains the code will be a maximum size, with an internal scroll bar, which prevents readers from having to scroll down, and down, and down... to read the rest of the non-code text of the posted message.
