Inside Arduino DAC

Hi everyone,
as the title, I have a question about circuitry inside DAC of the DUE.
I would like to know if the DAC outputs directly a PWM wave with different duty cycles or if the signal is already filtered inside Due itself.

My doubt stems from the fact that I am generating a sine wave with the DAC and I see from a digital oscilloscope just a rippled sine wave instead of a sequence of PWM waves with different duty cycles. This behaviuor only means that PWM is filtered by something (Arduino? Oscilloscope?).

If is the DAC that have this filter, is it possible to disable it?

The DAC is a tru DAC.
But the output voltage don't reach 0V or Vcc (and therefore not so useful as I would like it).
