Installer tries to uninstall nonexistent preexisting version

I had had the Arduino IDE installed at one point, but got rid of it, and have recently been attempting to reinstall the most recent version (1.6.7). However, the installer gives me this popup when I run it:

Arduino version 1.0.5-r2 is already installed and must be uninstalled before you install this version. [...] Click 'OK' to uninstall from: C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino

Clicking OK has no effect, and it appears that there is no such folder as it mentions. I tried installing several times, with the same outcome each time. Any idea what's going on here

As a workaround download the Windows ZIP file for non admin install instead of the Windows Installer option then it won't try to do the uninstall.
