Installing ATTiny Core files problem

I downloaded the ATTiny core files from here: GitHub - SpenceKonde/ATTinyCore: Arduino core for ATtiny 1634, 828, x313, x4, x41, x5, x61, x7 and x8.
It installed fine (I think), but when it is I can't select other Arduino boards. When I remove the hardware folder they reappear. What can I do?

Do you have the hardware folder in the correct location? It should be in (your documents)\Arduino\hardware (not the hardware directory in the location you installed Arduino)

Also, what version of the IDE are you using?

I have it set up like this, document/arduino/hardware/arduino/avr/
I'm running version 1.6.5

Should be
document/arduino/hardware/ATTinyCore/avr/

Where you have it, you're telling it the core is called "arduino", but that's the same as the default core. Hence it overrides the default Arduino core.

Move it to the right location and that will fix it

Thanks a lot!!
It works now.

That is pretty interesting, I didn't know you could override the built-in core like that.

I didn't either, until I saw the description of the problem and where he installed to :stuck_out_tongue:
