Intercepting PWM signal from an e-scooter throttle

Hi,
You will have a scooter that has speed performance greater than that allowed on the street.

Even if you limit it, it is still a bike capable of exceeding the speed limit, that fact and not that it has a limiter is what the police will be looking at.

Does your country also have a power, as in motor power in Kw. limit on e-scooters?

KUGOO G-BOOSTER

  • Motor Power: 800W x 2.
  • Battery Capacity: 48V/23Ah.
  • Max Speed: 55km/h.
  • Climbing Slope: 35 degree.
  • Frame Material: Aluminium alloy.
  • Tire: 10inch vacuum tire.

Here in Australia e-bikes are limited to 250W.

The laws for e-bikes in Australia are quite simple. To be ridden on public roads, e-bikes must: Have a motor that is 250 watts or less. If it has a throttle (that powers the bike without pedalling), have a motor that is 200 watts or less.24 Aug 2021

Tom.... :+1: :coffee: :australia:

This image is a generic throttle. RED = PWR, BLK = GND, GRN = HALL

Scooter throttles are usually "thumb" throttles, which is just a plastic tab where the grip throttle is located. The cabling leaves the throttle, usually enters the handle bar, then either meets the center console display/control or connects to a main harness, which travels down the long steering tube to the controller (usually in the standing platform). The connectors are usually 3-pin JSTs so the components are easily replaceable, or you can tip-into them with your purpose.
