Interfacing OPB706A Reflective Object Sensor

Hello All, Greetings.

This is my first post in this forum, I have been learning arduino with help of this forum for few years, Now I have to repair a Thermal printer for my friend. There is a Reflective Object Sensor on that Printer to identify when paper is empty.

As per the name on the Sensor, it is OPB706A sesnor with photoelectric transistor. As I am not into electronics field, I dont have an Idea how can I connect this sensor to arduino to get either digital or Analog input.

I have attached datasheet for the said sensor.

Can you please help me ,

Thank you very much.

  • It would be wired similar to this.

Hallo Larry,

Thank you very much for the support, When I have checked the sensor, It is mounted on a PCB with 3 Wires Coming out. The connection is as Follows

Red Wire- Pin 1 of Sensor (collector of Transister)
Brown Wire- Pin 4 (Cathode of diode) and Pin 2 (Emitter of Transister)
Orange Wire - Pin 3 (Anode of diode)

So I can´t connect as you have mentioned.

Something like this will work:

Capture

Thank You very Much,

Can you please tell me what you mean by From Output?

That is an optocoupler input, that might typically come from an Arduino output.

  • We need to see good images of this actual module that you have.

  • The resistors are probably installed already inside a module.

  • Maybe your module looks like this, however, we need the images.

Thank You very much, Please find the below photos, There is no Resistors Integrated,

  • Can we see a more in focus image ?

  • Let’s see the top of the board.

Please have a look, Unfortunatly, I couldnt focus on PCB
