Interfacing with Yale Cordless House Alarm

I'd dearly like to interface with my Yale Cordless House Alarm, a HSA 6200, so that I can

a) arm it from arduino i/o pins
b) disarm it from arduino i/o pins
c) detect alarm status from arduino i/o pins

I've googled about and there doesn't seem to be much information. There's a two part YouTube video of a guy who has interfaced with a similar one by soldering directly onto the main board and emulating keypad presses using software, I was hoping to go simpler (to match my skills!) and merely read the LEDs and 'press' the keyfob buttons using the Arduino.

Basically I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or if anyone here has attempted anything similar?
