Over the past months, we have completely revamped the software stack for the Arduino Yun, focusing on robustness, interoperability, and seamless integration with modern IoT systems. This project is now more open, flexible, and future-proof than ever—built on top of the latest official OpenWRT release.
Key Modernizations and Improvements:
Full MQTT Control: All pin control and monitoring is now handled exclusively via MQTT, enabling direct integration with modern IoT platforms and real-time dashboards.
Support for Any Pin: All examples, scripts, and libraries allow you to control any digital pin—not just LED 13.
Legacy Code Removed: All legacy Bridge, REST, and WebSocket examples and scripts have been removed, as well as any code limited to LED 13.
Robust Python 3 Daemon: The main bridge is now a robust Python 3 daemon, featuring error handling, detailed logging, UCI-based configuration, and support for process execution and mailbox features.
Modernized Arduino Library: The library and example sketches are updated to handle generic commands and respond to MQTT events.
Updated WebUI and REST: The REST CGI now allows control of any pin (pin parameter is required), and the WebUI is fully aligned with the new architecture.
Renewed Installers and Documentation: All installation scripts and documentation have been reviewed, updated, and translated to English, reflecting the new structure and workflows.
Clear, Open Roadmap: The project roadmap is up to date, focusing on MQTT integration, new platform support, and community contributions.
Why Get Involved?
The project is 100% open source and aims to be the foundation for new IoT, home automation, and integration projects with Arduino Yun.
Your feedback, ideas, and contributions are welcome! Suggest improvements, report bugs, create new examples, or help expand the documentation.
We want to build an active, collaborative community—every contribution counts.
Built on the Latest Official OpenWRT:
All scripts and integration are designed and tested with the latest official OpenWRT release from the OpenWRT website, ensuring maximum compatibility and security.
