invalid conversion from 'byte*' to 'char*'

Trying to use the VGADuino shield from Senior Electron/Tindie and keep getting that error when compiling Sample 2 or Sample 3 of their downloaded sketches. Is there an easy fix to eliminate the error and get compiling? Thanks, Keith
