everyone is leaving
But what a legacy to leave behind. I suspect the 555 (in all it's forms) will have the longest continuous production run of any chip in the world, if it does not already have that title.
Rough week, first Armstrong, now this, although I see Camenzind passed earlier in the month. Certainly a day to be noted.

Sorry Mike!
As Jack says, Neil and now 555, we all Go Blue
I know it is probably insensitive of me, but when I read that the inventor had died roughly two weeks ago, I thought of a 555 circuit that upon receiving notice of the death, then starts a 2 week countdown, and then releasing the news of the death (something like a relay that triggers a 2 week capacitor feeding into a 555, and when the power drains from the capacitor, it completes a circuit to send out the message).
I wonder if he knew that he invented the chip that gave the most fun to the most people ever. Is there any old timer out there that has not tried some form of the 555 atari-punk?
