ipod 5g interface

I am hijacking my first post so that it is clear what I am doing with this project from the top of the thread.

This is the thread for my ipod 5th gen Arduino controller interface for my 1997 Honda Accord.

Features Wanted:

  • Audio Line Out from Ipod
  • Charge the ipod from the vehicle 12v DC
  • Control the ipod with outboard controls (play/pause, previous, next, scroll up, scroll down, menu)

Components-Needed List - This list I'm sure will be very incomplete at first. Please feel free to help me out with it

  • Arduino Board - Not sure which one to get yet
  • Ipod breakout connector
  • Breadboard - Not sure which one to get yet
  • Voltage regulator
  • RCA connectors (2x)

Thank you for the reply

I hope I will be able to use one of these ipod breakouts since I'm sure it is way easier than trying to hack a regular connector, but I am not sure if I will have enough room the way I am setting it up in my car.

I have started to map out how i would like to set it up here

Does anybody have any thought on how hard it would be to use a standard connector like this instead of the ipod breakout connector? I really can't spare the space for the breakout unless I have to.

That depends. It should be pretty easy for a experienced developer.
