iPod parts

Hi there

I'm still quite new to all this so sorry if this comes across as naive or has been discussed elsewhere. I've just started taking apart an old 5th Generation iPod (only part that was completely busted was the headphone jack) and am wondering if I can make use of any of the parts in Arduino projects.

I'm especially interested to see if I can put the LCD to use.

Thanks for your time

James

Well, most of the innards of any of the ipods are pretty specialized smt components that aren't very useful or easy to communicate with; it might be worth it to salvage to battery, but ONLY if you properly charge it with a current/voltage monitoring circuit as lithium-based batteries are prone to explode when improperly charged. As for the screen, while there is evidence of interfacing:

its far more than the arduino can handle. Hope that helps
