Hi I would to have an array of four IR Transmitter and four IR receivers interconnected to each other and then to adurino to detect beam break from 0 to 48 inches

seeking help on
Which IR LED transmitter and receiver supports this range
How to interconnect receivers, transmitters for single output to adurino
Finally intefacing to adurino

You may find something you can use here. It is a mail box notifier project and uses four IR leds and an IR beam break sensor. The IR leds are switched on periodically and run at 38kHz in a round robin scheme to check if there is a break. In this case a break indicates a letter in the mail box.
