Just thought this idea was so simple, cool and original that I had to share it with all you good Arduino folks.
A guy has invented a simple and cheap way of creating an IR based compound eye a la those of arthropods (eg. insects).
Basically he got inspired by this:

It's very simple and only costs 5$. However he also provided the details for making one yourself.
