Ir emitter , at least 10 meters

Hi, I did an Arduino project with this ir module . The project works fine but the distance is not good enough. I could reach 1-2 meters but I want to reach any device in the room, so I need to reach at least 10 meters. For example, with original remote control of the air conditioner I could turn on the air conditioner at 15 meters. Can you recommend me and ir led or ir module that could reach that distance?

The range depends mostly on using a high power LED emitter properly, which includes matching the modulation frequency to the IR detector.

Note that the product page for the emitter states that the range is 1-2 m, and it is pretty low power, with a 220 Ohm current limiting resistor. You need a transistor driver and an LED (or several in parallel) capable of several hundred mA.

For help on that, please post the details. Posting suggestions are in the "How to get the best out of this forum" guide.

  • Not sure if this will work with your receiver, but these laser LEDs ($1.00 each) work here with my IR receiver.

  • Very directional though, range tested is over 30 feet.

may be anyone hast experience with this module, how was your experience with that?

The Adafruit module is a typical design and does exactly what I suggested.
