I explained how you do that at the end of post #5.
It is the ATtiny that sends data to the LEDs, your main processor reads the IR and sends the LED data to the ATtiny.
This is an alternative way of doing your project but at the expense of having to get a more powerful Arduino.DMA Driven Neopixels
