IR Receiver Help

Hello all,

I need help with my IR receiver. I have a code to drive a 'car' with a TV remote. I know the code is fine and the library is fine because it was working fine yesterday but now it wont work. I have also tried a sample code that I know works but no luck.

Instead of the small led on the receiver staying off and flashing when receiving a signal it just stays on.
It also doesn't print to the serial monitor anymore.

Is the chip fried? I would think it would do the opposite if it was fried (ie. no led flash)

I only have the one receiver so I can't double check the code either but I'm positive it isn't the issue.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Without your code and a connection diagram we cannot help.

Please put your code in its own window as seen in other posts. This can be done by placing
and
around the code or use the </> icon. This makes it easier for others to read.

The code I was trying to test it with is from the Arduino starter kit.

#include <IRremote.h>
#include <IRremoteInt.h>

const int irReceiverPin = 7;
const int ledPin = 13;

IRrecv irrecv(irReceiverPin);
decode_results results;

void setup()
{
  pinMode(ledPin,OUTPUT);
  Serial.begin(9600);
  irrecv.enableIRIn();
}

void loop()
{
  if (irrecv.decode(&results))
  {
    Serial.print("irCode: ");
    Serial.print(results.value, HEX);
    Serial.print(",  bits: ");
    Serial.println(results.bits);
    irrecv.resume();
  }
  Serial.print("test");
  delay(600);
  if(results.value == 0x6D0)
  {
    digitalWrite(ledPin,HIGH);
  }
  else
  {
    digitalWrite(ledPin,LOW);
  }
}

Your sketch works perfectly.

You either have a wiring problem or you have damaged your hardware.
Often breadboard wires can be open/intermittent.
