IR receiver on long cable (1 meter)

Hello,
I am trying to controll arduino with my TV remote.
Everything works but, When i solder the IR receiver on a 1 meter cable
it don't works anymore.
I think the cable is to long ?
is there a way how to fix this maybe with a transistor or something..
I really want the IR on a cable so i can hide the module.

Thanks.

Is the cable shielded? What diameter have the wires (only copper)? What exact type is your IR receiver (link)?

I have found a solution.
What i did is by adding a capacitor to the 3.3v > ground
And the IR receiver connected to 3.3v (5v don't seens to works well the input code keep changing.)
and the one meter cable with braided shield connected to the ground.

i found it out just 5 minutes ago
no the cable was not shielded.
maybe i should only buy a better IR receiver.. because i dont know what type this is i take it out from a old dvd player.
