I have a project which will maybe not be doing too much most of the time.

I was wondering if I can put this on it so when I enter the room/wave my hands, it will detect me and turn on the project for a while?

Well,

I am new to this and am kind of "going for broke" on some old things I never got around to building because of other reasons.

But now I am playing with the Arduino, editing the things are so easier.

And though that will also use "POWER", it will be in kind of.... "Sleep mode" unless it detects movement.

Also, check out PIR sensors via eBay.

Will detect movement of a persons body, but not hand waving per-se.
