ironically I was wondering if can use arduino to generate static electricity

obviously could use control of mechanical stepper/servo arrangement to rub two generative materials together...

but what I wanted was to generate a static charge in a plate (glass? metal? plastic?) to attract and trap dust....

can this be done using dc... sounds like a capacitor type thing.....

ideal wipe clean surface, no filter replacement required....

Something like a mini tesla coil would work - or look at the advertised 'negative ion' air purifiers.

I'd keep an arduino well out of the way - more than 5v and they get worried....

You can only have a static charge on an insulator or a well insulated conductor. Static voltages are measured
in the kV to 10's of kV range.

Small high voltage low power power supplies are findable, not very common, probably cheapest to caniballize
an insect-zapper unit ?

OK,Thanks! sounds like getting some wool and a balloon and a servo to rub wool on balloon mounted in 3d printed (and smoothed) mount might be simplest / safest LOL

What about this
