Is firmata used in commercial products?

Hi all,
I was just wondering if firmata used in commercial products. Does anyone know?

Why do you want to know? What difference would an answer make?

I was just evaluating if I have the skills to complete a consumer product, much like the ones on kickstarter.

It is open source so there is nothing stopping you from using it. However most people with the skill set to produce a commercial product would have the skill set required to not need to use it. Personally I think it just turns the Arduino into a lobotomised I/O system and throws away any intelligence or task shairing capabilities.

And makes some things like I2C sensors, SPI shields, and ping sensors useless.
