I don"'t see the German article is relevant. It doesn't take a scientist to realize the human body has changing electrical parameters when the person is alive . That would seem obvious..
How else is an EKG or EEG going to work ? The poster who stated "passive" for tests like ultrasound had a point but as I already said, all this discussion is academic until the OP defines "passive" and "active" by telling us WHY they asked this seemingly useless ( except for a homework assignment or crossword puzzle) question.
1- A student would only care if their professor assigned the question.
2- a scientist or medical person would already know .
3- a technician would begin by defining the application
4- a hobbyist would begin by defying the application
5- the fact that the OP never replied again except to specify a one word answer should be OBVIOUS that it is simply someone doing a crossword puzzle (or homework assignment) and here you are linking a German Wiki site talking about the OP's responsibility to translate.
Ask yourself this :
Whiy would the OP require a yes/no answer if it wasn't a crossword puzzle or school assignment ?
Is that NORMAL for a forum post ? (to specify a yes/no or one word answer)
My guess is homework or crossword puzzle. Everything else can be ruled out one way or another.
