Whether the human body has varistic properties is still irrelevant without defining the terms "active" and "passive".
There could be many ways to interpret these.
it is a general electronics forum.... I think OP uses active and passive as we do with components.... a resistor is a passive component, a transistor is an active one .
To summerize, I'd answer : a body is a machine, with a lot of 'components', some of them are active (neurones.... ) other are passive .
My toe has sensors (passive) , and nerves (active) which transmit to my brain (again a lot of components inside this guy.....I hope 
) the pain when it hits the leg of that f.....g chair
