Is it okay to tie UOTGID pin of the ATSAM3X8E to GND to force host mode?

I'm currently working on my version of Arduino Due, and part of the project was to use USB type C, however, recently i found out that USB type C doesn't support OTG and everything included in OTG standard. So, im planning to tie the UOTGID pin to GND (there's internal pullup on the MCU) to force host mode, and let the MCU take peripheral role through Host Negotiation Protocol when needed. That way, i should be able to route D+ and D- lines as normal, and leave every other data pin unconnected, or tied/pulled to whatever level needed. Would that work, and if so, for what extent? For example, would a type C flash drive care about absence of CC and SBU signals? And, if there would be any issues, what should i be expecting?

Thanks for any and all help!
