Hi,

Is it possible to make an amplifier out of electronic components? I on't have an amplifier but I have resistors and capacitors?

Yes. You will need a transistor or two.

What kind of amplifier? An audio power amplifier to drive a speaker? A preamp to boost a microphone signal for the Arduino?

It requires "active components" (transistors of MOSFETs). And, you need a power supply as the source of the power. Resistors, capacitors, and inductors are passive components.

A transistor or MOSFET is an amplifier or an electrically-controlled "switch". With a transistor or MOSFET, a small voltage & current can control a larger voltage & current. An analogy is the accelerator pedal in your car... A little pressure on the gas pedal can control hundreds of horsepower.

Is it possible to make an amplifier out of electronic components?

I wouldn't recommend it except as a learning experience. its a LOT easier & cheaper to use an IC. And, with an IC, you'll probably end-up with a better amplifier. (A typical op-amp or power-amp IC will have many transistors inside.)
