Is it possible to upload a code to a distant board

Hello,
Without sharing the code, is it possible to upload the code directly to an UNO board connected to the USB port of a computer anywhere in the world?

You can send the hex file that is generated by the Arduino IDE to somebody with instructions how to upload using avrdude; obviously avrdude needs to be installed on the conputer that communicates with the PC Arduino.
