I would like to make a proximity counter that counts individual visitors.
I was thinking that (assuming that the majority of the local population (of a school) would be connected to the local WiFi network) it would be possible to get some kind of unique identifier from mobile phones that are within range and then just count the number of unique identities.
Would this be possible using an Arduino? Note that I don't have any access to the WiFi router...

I don't understand. If everyone else has access to the router, why don't you have access?
