Is my 'Multimeter Tweezer Probe' faulty?

I've bought this item from Amazon.

The first thing I tried to do was use it to test a resistor. It showed 'zero' resistance.
So I tried to use it to test for a 'completed' circuit... And as soon as I plugged it in to the multimeter it started beeping. Further testing reveals that all four contacts (the two jacks on the ends of the cables, and the two contacts at the tips of the tweezers) are all connected to each other.

I was under the impression that this device was just to avoid trying to hold probes 'like chopsticks'. Have I misunderstood what this thing is for?

The probe is faulty but you may be able to fix it if you are prepared to cut the wires and reconnect them

Use your meter to measure the resistance between the 2 probe ends, if it reads a dead short, return them to Amazon & request a replacment or refund.
