Is my stepper gone?

I am trying to run a stepper with a Pololu driver and cannot, even though I have tried quite a few wiring combinations. Moreover, I have noticed that the resistance of the two coils is different: on one there is 3.0 om, on the other 1.6. Does that mean that the stepper is faulty? It might have been overheated...

Post a link to the datasheet for your stepper motor.

The Pololu website has very clear wiring diagrams.

That shows the winding resistance at 10 ohms, and yours are much less. Combined with the fact that it doesn't work seems to bode ill. It would seems that you have insulation failure (shorting winding turns together) caused by the overheating.

Is your stepper 6-wire like that datasheet says? If so don't take it apart, just figure
out the windings properly - to use as bipolar identify the centre-taps and don't use them.

Motors always come in a variety of different windings, its possible this is the one in the
datasheet except its wound for 1.5+1.5 ohm centre-tapped
