Is the UNO compatible at all with Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit?

Hello,

I used the Arduino UNO R3 in Windows 7 64 bit with no problems but in Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit the UNO is listed as Unknown Device. The driver included with the Arduino IDE 1.0.5 and the official FTDI 2.08.30 driver will not work with the UNO.

The official FTDI 2.08.30 driver is installed properly as a separate USB to serial adapter works properly.

So, my question is, does the Arduino Uno R3 work with Windows 8.1 64 bit or not? I would like to know before I move on to another device and stop wasting my time. I have read posts here and it looks like it seems to work sometimes but the few convoluted solutions found on the forum do not work.

thanks for your time.

Yes I used my UNO with both my PC that's 8.1 and laptop.
Can't remember off hand what/where driver was I used. If I get 5 mins later (setting up a VMWare test lab at the moment) i'll have a look and see what driver it using.
