That's a problem, don't have a project decided, just was looking for something to have in the hat for when I wanted to pull it out, Xbee seems to be the Daddy, and where there is a Daddy there tends to be cheaper stepfather clones.......where is the Ybee that dose the same job for half the price!
especially for one-way traffic there are some cheap modules at sparkfun.
Sparkfun stuff is a lot more expensive for us here in the UK with all the added extras like import tax 
, so ebay tends to be the option of chose, with sellers being more flexible with tax declaration forms!
