Is there a way to connect sensor directly to wireless networking

I want to put a sensor on a glove, and log the data.

I want the glove to be as light as possible, so I wondered if there is easy way to have just sensor, battery and small wireless device in the glove. (without wires, I was looking into using bluetooth or xbee)

I'd put logging device in the pocket of a user.

Do I need to have whole arduino on the glove? I can't find any tutorials on the net.

Not if the device that is going to send the data has a microcontroller on board that can read the sensor data. The XBee does. Bluetooth modules don't.
