Issues uploading sketch - it takes infinite time and doesn't upload

Hi All -

Thank you in advance, taking out your time to read this and helping to solve the issue.

I've been facing this problem since, yesterday, I, uninstalled and reinstalled Arduino IDE and selected Nano (old boot loader), it got resolved yesterday.

Today again got into same issue, retried the same procedure, this time it is not uploading, I, get the following error, it has become a mistery, pl help me resolving this

Arduino: 1.8.7 (Windows 8), Board: "Arduino Nano, ATmega328P"

Sketch uses 2378 bytes (7%) of program storage space. Maximum is 30720 bytes.
Global variables use 450 bytes (21%) of dynamic memory, leaving 1598 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2048 bytes.

Problem uploading to board. See http://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Troubleshooting#upload for suggestions.

This report would have more information with
"Show verbose output during compilation"
option enabled in File -> Preferences.

Your error message shows that you have selected the '328P' option, not the 'old boot loader' option.

In boards change the CPU to 328P old bootloader, and retry!

Tried both - still it is not uploading

Tried both old as well as new boot loader! yesterday it got solved with old boot loader, but today the problem repeated

spycatcher2k:
Post the output you get when you select old bootloader please!

I do not get any update/output, it infinitely hangs

Restart your computer, open the IDE, try uploading 'Blink'.

Even for Blink upload it hangs indefinitely, in all cases compilation happens normally.

Now after uninstalling and installing few times, a peculiar phenomenon is happening, the execution file is not getting into programs, wondering if it is Windows OS issue?
