Most tutorials show the power coming from Arduinos! I think it is recommended to use an external power supply but I've unfortunately tried that as well..!
Regarding the NRFs, I know that they are a lot weaker but I am thinking of using them temporarily to move forward with the project as a whole, then leave the wireless communication part till the end (where I will probably try again with new HC-12 modules!)
