Jitter when entering lengthy forum messages.

Folks,

I like to keep things seperate when posting so I use the "Enter" key a bit.

Alas now and then, after a few parragraphs, this little grey area where I am typing goes nuts.

Instead of scrolling when I press enter, it simply adds a "space" to the existing line. Then subsequent typing is done, the screen jitters up and down - well only the grey part - and though I see what I am typing, as soon as I stop, it scrolls back down below where I can see. So to see what I have typed and read it, I have to scroll down.

Then when I start to type again, it jumps back to below the visible area and makes it annoying to type.

Thoughts?

Using Internet Explorer?

Well, I use FF (latest version) on my machine and when at work use IE8.

As far as I can remember it happens on both machines.

I've never had the problem with Firefox but Internet Explorer always does what you've described. I'll check the version tonight.

Thanks.

I can't be 100% certain.

I post things when I have time and logging where I am and which machine isn't captured.

IE does that sort of thing, IIRC you set (or clear) compatibility mode.

Internet Explorer 8. I just turned on "compatibility view". I'll let you know how it goes.

Use an external editor before posting

and maybe fix the title of the thread to something that covers the content? just a thought

Not a thought but 2 great thoughts 8)
Don't rely on your browser to write extensive texts. Clicking the back button is enough to lose all your work.

Posting today with IE8 and still getting problem.

I also tried to "cheat" and put extra lines below where I was typing to try and keep where I was typing within the visible grey area.

Doesn't work.

Also: Weirdly enough, this post is ok.

I think it is something to do with the "extra" 's when I do parragraphs.
