Jumper pin configuration

Hi everyone
I have purchased an arduino motor shield and was wondering what the jumper configuration is for switching between USB power supply and independent power supply,i.e which two pins are to be covered by the jumper to choose the desired mode.

Thank you in advance

What Arduino motor shield did you get? I don't see any jumpers in the official motor shield:

The official motor shield seems to use +5V pin to provide power to the chips and Vin to provide power to the motors. Since USB can only provide 500 mA you will need a DC power supply (roughly 9 to 12V) connected to the power socket on the Arduino. This supply will run the motors and can run the Arduino if USB is disconnected.
