Just bought arduino starter kit after some time can't upload sketches

Just started playing with Arduino and successfully built a few examples. Then started modifying them by printing variables using Serial.println and blinking leds. Then suddenly run into this:

avrdude: verification error, first mismatch at byte 0x0000
0x0c != 0xff
avrdude: verification error; content mismatch

Tried both reset and powering off, but can't upload sketches anymore. After powering on the leds are blinking for some time.

So currently wondering whether I burned it somehow, corrupted bootloader... else? Could it be so, that I made it by using Serial.begin(9600)?

Also forgot to add, this is Arduino Uno from Starter Kit.

Is that an Uno Rev 3, or an earlier version?

Yes, this is 3rd revision Arduino Uno.

As I didn't do anything major, I suspect still a defect chip, but any advices or opinions quite welcome.
Pretty annoyed that broke first day I started using it.

The only unusual things I did, were that I added println and Serial.begin(9600) to setup routine and
also called tone function with 13 led(built-in led) as a parameter. But it was working fine for two hours and then
at some point I just start getting this verification errors.

I am encountering almost the same prob, its been quite a while i have used my UNO R3 now since i last updated a fully working program code.

But now, when im trying to upload the example blink sketch i getting these errors:

i wish to take up new projects from UNO again, im missing code writings . . .

Any help to be able to troubleshoot is welcomed . . .

I am experiencing a similar issue. When trying to upload a sketch, this error occurs:

  • 0x0c != 0x62*

I tried rebooting the PC, tried to upload the sketch from another PC (both windows and linux), simple example sketches like 'blink', unplug the USB-cable, ... But I always run into this error. It worked fine earlier this day. I'm using Arduino Uno R3.

Does anyone know a reason why this occurs? Or even better, a solution?

Exactly the same problem, anybody has a solution ? Seems to be a common problem with this starter kit.

Out of curiosity:

For those of you who have this problem, did this problem start after something "funny" happened with the serial monitor?

I'm having what seems like a similar issue, but I didn't get this kit.
