Just some basic LED work [edison]

So, I have the Intel Edison and 5 LEDs, all 3.2 voltage. I have no idea how anything on arduino works except blink. I am a new programmer and I am only 15, I know basic Linux and that's about it, can someone please expain to me how to do this?

1.make the 1st light go on for 1 second 2.then make the second led go off for 1 second 3.and then the third, all in sequence

Try to use as little programming terminology as possible, Thanks.

Please explain exactly the on/off sequence for all 3 LEDs and how things repeat.

Do you know that the Edison only has 1.8V outputs so trying to run 3.2V LEDs is not going to happen directly?

So before you start you need to boost the output to 5V with a transistor and then use a resistor in series with your LED to control the current.

The Edison is not a good beginners platform.

This can make things easier to physically get at:- https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13038

But you might want to wait until they have one with level shifting (see comments)
