Just starting

Hi all,
A little about myself to start with.
I am a retired electronics engineer with design experience, so getting to grips with Arduino shouldn't be a problem.
I have little experience with programming (pic or otherwise) and would like to have a go.

My problem is what pieces of Arduino equipment do I need to start for purely experimental purposes. I have seen many Arduino boards and don't know which to choose. Has anybody any suggestions?

Tony

Start simple, get an Uno or a Duemilanove (if they're still around).
For the money, they're a great place to start and surprisingly capable.

Many thanks Awol. There are so many modules around I was unsure which way to go.
I think it will be the Uno and a book.

Im just starting as well. Im a retired software engineer with some hardware background. I just wanted to experiment so i bought a seeeduino board, a grove module expansion shield and a bunch of grove modules. It was trivial to get started. I wired up two leds, one switch, a vibration module and a PIR for my first project. This also gave me a good idea how to get everything up and running with a minum of fuss, and it will allow me to start prototyping as well. Good luck.

Hi,

I'm also a long-"Retired" electronics/software Engineer and I have loved working with Arduino.

A good Starter Kit with several kinds of input and output devices would be good.
