Keyboard help

I want to plug in my laptop, into my arduino uno, push a key on the keyboard, and flip a relay.
I have no idea how to do this or even where to begin
any help would be nice

You'll need some type of program on the PC side to send that keystroke, which then gets sent via virtual serial (USB) to the Arduino. The arduino will be running a program which "looks" for that particular key to be sent.. at which point, it flips on or off the relay.

Buy a relay module made to be driven from 5v. Check Sparkfun or Adafruit, or one of the others.

The rest is just programming.

Look at Serial() (Serial - Arduino Reference) and use either the Arduino Serial Monitor to send keystrokes (or another serial terminal program.)

I have the relay and program up and running, just like to add this feature, any examples anywhere.
tnx
