keyboard microcontrollers

I have salvaged Chicony C34451BE and NOVATEK NT6868AH keyboard microcontrollers. Is it worth holding onto these things or can they not be used for anything and/or reprogrammed?

They probably are not reprogrammable. Left on their little PCBs, keyboard controllers can make nice interfaces for dealing with medium to large numbers of switches; Connect the switches (up to 100+) up where they keys used to be, use 2 wires for the PS/2 protocol to your arduino (or whatever), and you're all set...
