I'm having trouble getting consistent readings from the ky-018 photoresistor if I hold my finger on the resistor it will give me a 0 reading but as soon as I lighten the pressure on the resistor it jumps back to 1023. I have attempted to include the photoresistor library that is part of the IDE but it makes no difference. I have tried to add the KY-018 zipfile but the IDE wont allow it. The code I have used is the one in the link and its wired up as per link. I have tried different code as well.KY-018 Photoresistor Module - ArduinoModulesInfo
Sounds like a bad module or wrong wiring. Try to measure the resistance of the LDR having the module unconnected. The do the same with the second resistor (SMD) on the board. Post the values you measure. Also measure the resistance from S to + and from S to - on the boards connector.
ok tried that. resistance measured at legs of light resistor is nill even with varying light levels. Resistance at resistor is nill and terminals only flash 1024 then return to 1 and wont give another reading between s and - pins

You have a multimeter that displays 'nill'? Did you really measure the resistance? How did you do that?
I have played with this sensor and if I move the legs on the resistor I can get resistance readings with the multimeter. The pins and built in resistor give readings also that are consistent but when I plug it in and get readings with the arduino it becomes very touchy. If I move the breadboard readings jump to 0 and I have to move the unit to get a valid reading again. I think the sensor is dodgy
