Keyestudio plus ks0499 driver?

Does anyone have one of these and can help? Their instructions have been worthless on windows for a long time. This is a USB-C model if it matters.

I figured out to go to device manager > action > add legacy hardware > manual > ports > silicon labs > CP210x USB to UART bridge > install

I get 'device cannot start code 10". The specified request is not a valid operation for the target device.
Arduino IDE 2.2.1 can see the port, but cannot upload to it, throwing avrdude: stk500v2_getsync(): timeout communicating with programmer ( I selected mega 2560 as the instructions indicated)

I also tried the driver directly from silicon labs with same result

Has anyone been able to use one of these? I really wanted this board to work. It seems like such a great board for I2C.

Thanks for any help!

Does this help? It says, "...the driver of CP2102 serial chip is included in ARDUINO version 1.8 and above..."

unfortunately no, I am way beyond that, the drivers arduino IDE installs are listed in device manager, I wasn't able to find any drivers in the folders themselves in 2.2.1, and every driver I have found is actually the same driver so far.

this thing is a piece of garbage. I got a refund for it already. The light next to the chip is always on (not power). Don't buy this thing.
