Keyless Entry Car Project

Aloha Community,

i'd like to upgrade my car by building a keylessEntry with an ardunio.

KeylessGo is not possible due to mechanic Steeringwheellock. But i'd like to realise the functionality of opening and lumination when coming near my car / locking the doors/closing windows when leaving it.

For opening/closing locks and windows i use the original build-in solution an just simulate the original IR-Signal with the arduino.

What i'd like to know: is there any proximitysensor not working with IR or ultrasonic?

Hope you guys can help me!

Greetings

it sounds like you need to have a second layer.

with your key fob in your pocket, you must press buttons.

I think what you are looking for is a pocket device that has something like an RFID tag. something that can be detected when you are close to the car.

the problem you have is that if your new system chooses to lock the car and shut it off while you are driving.

but, it sounds like you have a large project.
if the sensors is near, and it was not (change of state)
then turn on the lights and un-lock the car. this may happen because the car turns on the lights when the doors are unlocked. you would need to send a pulse to un-lock the doors.
then, once the key is inserted, your device has to go dead.
once the car is turned off and the doors open, then shut, and the sensor gets out of range, then, test if the key is still in the ignition, if the lights are on.. once it is clear that no one is in the car and the car in in park and not mving... then lock the doors.

what you have to woory about is if you tick off your girlfriend and she tosses the fob out the window while you are dring and the car locks and shuts itself off automatically.
