Hello,
I have a robot which I want to shutdown with a press of button. I have tried various MOSFET circuits, but the MOSFET looks like it is switched on even when there is no voltage at gate.
Could you post some schematics to do so?
Thank You

Why would an ordinary on/off switch not suffice?
Yes, it would be sufficient, but I have only pushbutton which is the size I need.
EDIT: Would Pushbutton Power Switch SV - ROB-08904 - SparkFun Electronics solve the problem?
Yes that would do the trick by the look of it.
However it you're going to buy that why not just buy the correct switch?
Rob
Well that is the problem, I can find only momentary button with the specs that I need, there is no such switch that is able to handle currents/is the size I need.
Can you post a link to your current switch, maybe someone will know of an equivalent.

Then have the switch actuate a relay (or contactor - if the load is -really- big) which controls the load.
Also note that a real kill switch should be set up in such a way so that when it is activated, everything is disabled instantly, and perhaps even requires a bit of other intervention to "reset" the system before it will turn on again. The complexity of the design will depend on exactly what the system is, how dangerous it is to human bystanders and property, etc.
