Kingbright 4 Digit 7 Segment Display

Hey guys,

lately I was struggling to get the "Kingbright CC56-12GWA" work. I was able to control every digit and every Segment so the basic stuff. Even coding the software wasn't a big deal, but I am trying to get the Colon working. So the problem is, that on the official data sheet there's nothing telling me how to get the colon working.

Heres the link to the data sheet: http://www.kingbrightusa.com/images/catalog/spec/CC56-12GWA.pdf

You can see, that the two led's are named DP5 and DP6 but I really don't get how to light them up.

Thank you guys, I really appreciate your help,
Louis

There are only 12 pins on that device and all are accounted for in the data sheet.

I think the colon LEDs are not fitted on that device. It looks like they use a standard front panel plastic molding for all products and in this one there is no colon LEDs.

I have come across this sort of thing before.

Yep, no go on the colon dots. You may be able to look closely enough and see something different/missing about them.

12 pins, 4 for the digits, 8 for the 8 segments in each.

Okay, thanks guys!

What a bummer... Why do people put those holes in without and led? It's so confusing! But thanks anyways

Have a good day,
Louis

Why do people put those holes in without and led?

To use just one injection mould and have one part in their inventory. It saves many thousands of $.

Just like how base trim cars will have blank covers in spots where there would be switches for features aailable in higher trim levels.

Or how they have braille on drive-thru ATMs.
