KPH to Miles converter for jdm cluster

hello guys

can anyone help me to figure few doubts in have in making a kph to miles conversion for jdm cluster ?

  1. whats sort of hardware is needed to convert the kph can signal to miles
  2. can this be done with a stand alone arduino ?

i really appreciate your support cause i see many modules online to buy but i wanna know the theories behind this

thank you

You can convert kph to miles per hour (mph).
Simply multiply kph by 0.6214.

Converting speed to distance traveled requires measuring time as well, and integrating.

thanks for the reply and i need to read the input speed signal of my honda insight . the speed signal is in kmph but i wanna convert that signal to miles ! im curious to know what sort of hardware is capable of doing this conversion ! and the signal is a CAN bus signal

Post #2 tells you how to convert kph to miles distance traveled.

What do you not understand about the answer?

what sort of hardware is capable of doing this conversion

Any Arduino, or other microcontroller.

I think Op is asking what hardware is needed to read the input speed signal of his car (so he can convert it to miles).

Search: ARDUINO CANBUS (MCP2515, SN65HVD230)

I’d google around to see if anyone has any info, it may well be a coding issue in the cluster , might even be a link ??
You could always look for a mph cluster and swap it .

You might even look at an overlay fir existing gauge ( although the mileometer is still wrong )

Otherwise I can see CAN errors appearing and all sorts of issues from a home made add on unless you really know your stuff in this area

The vehicle speed can be obtained from the OBD-II interface. Plenty of scanners and adapters are available, so no hardware needs to be constructed. Reading Real-Time Data | OBD Solutions
