L led keeps flashing and cannot load code?

Hi all.
Just received the Starter RFID Learning Kit for Arduino Beginner.
I downloaded the software from the cd and updated it...
Ive tried lesson 1 for switching on/off led and lesson 2 for dimming led but I cant get neither of them to work.
The sw does not tell you if its uploaded the code to the uno board successfully?
The led on the uno board just keeps flashing all the time?
Can anyone tell me what I should do?
Thanks
legepe

The sw does not tell you if its uploaded the code to the uno board successfully?

Oh yes it does
An example

Sketch uses 1,746 bytes (5%) of program storage space. Maximum is 32,256 bytes.
Global variables use 182 bytes (8%) of dynamic memory, leaving 1,866 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2,048 bytes.

I downloaded the software from the cd and updated it...

Do you get an error message ?
Please post your updated code here.

The led on the uno board just keeps flashing all the time?

Which LED

I dont understand what you mean UKHeliBob?
I am using Fritzing beta version of sw...
The code is what has come on cd... its not wouldnt think there is anything wrong with the code... it just does not upload?

its the L led on the board

I am using Fritzing beta version of sw...

That is NOT code that works on the Arduino.

The code is what has come on cd

So you'll need to make copies of the CD for all of us. Or, POST YOUR CODE!

Use that Fritzing software to create a schematic, and post it, too.

I got it from sunfounder… the sw is what is on cd… for lesson 2 the code is:

#define ledPin 9    // the pin that the LED is attached to

void setup ()
{
  pinMode(ledPin, OUTPUT);  // declare pin 9 to be an output:
}

void loop()
{
  for (int a=0; a<=255;a++)               //loop from 0 to 255
  {
    analogWrite(ledPin, a);               // set the brightness of pin 9:
    delay(8);                             //wait for 8 microseconds
  }
    for (int a=255; a>=0;a--)             //loop from 255 down to 0
  {
    analogWrite(ledPin, a);               // set the brightness of pin 9:
    delay(8);                             //wait for 8 microseconds
  }
  delay(800);                             //wait for 800 microseconds
}

schematic:

That code should make the LED fade from off to completely on, and back. Then, 8/10 of a second later, it does it all over again.

What do you see it actually doing?

The actual code is not the problem... its the led marked L on the uno board keeps flashing...? And i cannot get the code to upload to the uno board?

What messages do you get in the bottom window of the IDE when you upload the code ?

It says the following but doesnt do anything...

Running D:/Lesson2 Controlling LED by PWM/code/Controlling_LED_by_PWM/Controlling_LED_by_PWM.ino --board arduino:avr:uno --port \\.\COM3 --upload D:\Lesson2 Controlling LED by PWM\code\Controlling_LED_by_PWM\Controlling_LED_by_PWM.ino

When I press the

And i cannot get the code to upload to the uno board?

We don't know if you can, or not. Why ask a silly question like that? Make a statement!

How are we supposed to know if it does? Make a statement!

If you can't verify and upload the code, then the board is probably still running the blink code, which, strangely enough, causes the LED to blink.

What does? We can NOT see what the hell you are doing!

When I press the

Well, don't do that.

Sorry about that… I am new to all this…

How do I get the board out of running blink mode?

Compile, link, and upload some other sketch.

Not sure what you mean with this...?

Should I download and try with a different IDE?

i downloaded the IDE (arduino-nightly-windows) used it to upload code "fade" and worked first time...! :slight_smile:
dont know about the IDE that came on cd but its taken me all day and some of your time...
I appreciate your help... i know things got confusing... sorry about all that and thanks again for you help...!!
